BLACK MARBLE FEELS

Black Marble blew us away last month with his odd-ball electro bop 'One Eye Open'. Revealing another cut from his forthcoming new album Bigger Than Life (due out on the 25th of October via Sacred Bones), 'Feels' is a melancholy synth-pop ballad that deals deeply in nostalgia. Structured by and unashamedly 80s-inspired drum machine, softly squelching synths provide buoyancy to Black Marble's downbeat vocals. Arriving alongside a highly conceptualised video directed by Izrayl Brinsdon, Brinsdon explains,"'Feels' is a reflection of past trauma triggered by space and place. Physical objects transcend time and present an intangible past to the subject. The use of real VHS footage from family archives establishes a source of nostalgia that is honest and without fabrication. While conversing with Black Marble, it became evident that the lyrical and visual narratives were cohesive. Combined, the audience is left with a farewell note to the past. No matter how vivid a memory, we must all keep moving forward." -Holly Mullineaux
